Lake Poinsett Water Project District is a special purpose district with powers set by statue of South Dakota Codified Laws Chapter 46A. 
     The LPWPD jurisdiction is within 1000' of the ordinary high water mark (as defined by SD GF&P). 

     The Board of Directors consists of seven members elected at large.
     LPWPD is located in Lake Norden and Estelline Townships in Hamlin County, South Dakota, and in Laketon Township in Brookings County, South Dakota.
